Hi Linda, I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but ... I happened to be on the social psych chapter in my Intro Psych classes so we talked about attribution theory (internal vs. external attributions, fundamental attribution error, etc,) with regard to how people tried to make sense of what happened. We also watched the President's addressing the nation and discussed his tactics and power to persuade the American public to feel/believe in the importance of "rallying around the flag".
