sexual abuse reality check

regardless of how many cases of sexual abuse are fabricated (the research on court cases shows about 2% of children are lying or making it up, meaning 98% of children are telling the truth), this kind of discussion always takes people's minds off the reality of child abuse. The truth is, there are over 3 million cases per year in this country alone that are DOCUMENTED. 2000 children per year are SUBSTANTIATED as killed by parents. That means millions more undocumented cases exist, as most children (or women who were sexually abused as children), instead of lying or being coerced into false memories, never tell anyone. they live with it in their own private ways. my research for 10 years has focused on the social development of abused children. it is often painful and stressful work. by so much focus on the 2%, we can painlessly live in denial that the other 98% are out there. they are our neighbors, our coworkers, our family members, our wives, our husbands, our friends. they are not a radical group of man-hating feminists who want men to suffer for the ills inflicted on women throughout history. they are children who are violated by adults. sure, there are shams, and neurotic recreations. but what are vastly more disturbing are the true statistics. see my website for just a few official government statistics. most cases never reach this status.
