The Department of Psychology at the College of Charleston invites
applications for three tenure-track positions at the assistant professor
level to begin August 15, 2003. A Ph.D. in psychology is required. The
College of Charleston and Department of Psychology have a strong commitment
to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. We are particularly
interested in receiving applications from members of under-represented
groups. First position, conditioning and learning: We are seeking an
experimental psychologist with a primary specialization in conditioning and
learning. The candidate should be prepared to teach Conditioning and
Learning, Conditioning and Learning Lab, and Introductory Psychology.
Special consideration will be given to applicants who are also prepared to
teach other courses, e.g., Physiological, Motivation, or Comparative.
Second position, quantitative psychologist: We are seeking a quantitative
psychologist with a specialization in industrial/organizational psychology,
multivariate statistics, or psychometrics. The candidate should be prepared
to teach Psychological Statistics, Tests and Measurements, Research
Methods, and Introductory Psychology. Other courses in the area of
specialization are possible.  Third position, cognitive psychologist: We
are seeking a cognitive psychologist or a cognitive neuroscientist. The
candidate should be prepared to teach Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive
Psychology Lab, Research Methods, Introductory Psychology and related
courses. Area of specialization is open, but special consideration will be
given to applicants with research interests in one or more of the following
areas: cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, human development,
language, attention, or perception. The College of Charleston provides a

arts college where both teaching and scholarly research are highly valued.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with a commitment to
excellence in teaching and an active research program that involves
undergraduate students. A letter of application, curriculum vita, reprints,
graduate transcript, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and three letters
