Most universities have a policy about allowing students who are called up
for active duty to withdraw from school without penalty. The students
usually have to provide a copy of their orders to the registrar to verify
their status.

If it is late in the semester and the student does not want to withdraw
from school because he or she thinks completion is possible, then it would
be each individual instructor's decision on how to deal with the class and
student.

I certainly would ask for verification of the orders, although most
students would likely not try to use military action as viable excuse. Not
being called up is too easy to verify.
