Not to beat on the horse too much, but this is what I meant when I said that
memorizing wasn't enough - the students must make the new vocabulary part of
their daily (working) use of language. Traci's anecdote is consistent with my
impressions of my students, who memorized huge numbers of words but didn't
change the vocabulary they used when talking or writing.
