Leslie Iverson, an eminent pharmacologist at Oxford, writing in Nature (and what could be more impeccable of references than these) had this to say about the pair in a book review of _Intoxicating Minds_ (2001): "Did you know, for example, that the first antidepressant drug, the hydrazine derivative iproniazid, originated in part because Germany was left with a large stock of unused hydrazine rocket fuel at the end of the Second World War?" (Presumably this is further documented in _Intoxicating Minds_). I thought I did (only it was iproniazid, not chlorpromazine), then I didn't, and now I do again. Kept me from going nuts.
