Lou,
We would love to have labs affiliated with intro, but do not have the
resources (both space and faculty). We require all students to do our
research methods course from which their research proposals were
conducted in a subsequent semester-- usually as seniors-- as a Research
Seminar (through IRB and using our "subject pool"). About 7 years ago,
we changed from requiring the Research Seminar to making it one of
three options. The other two are a Senior Seminar (requiring an
extensive literature review) or a Psych Practicum in the community.
These three options are meant to satisfy, at some level, the different
career paths students choose (although we do strongly encourage all
students to take the Research Seminar through advising and offer it
more frequently than the other two). We also have a required
seniors-only History of Psych. capstone course.
Hope this helps.
