I developed two courses for ERAU(Intro to Psy) and (Personality).
I was paid about $1500 for each course.The course materials included a
Study Guide and Video tapes of my lectures.Students could enrol in the
course by purchasing the text,the video tapes and they took a mid term
and a final.Most of my distance learning students were stationed
in the military or in some kind of aviation programs.
I also served as the grader for the course and was paid for each mid
and final exam I graded.
The distance learning courses were viewed as separate from the regular
courses.The faculty do not get release time for that,but they can
make extra cash if they develop these cousres.As a matter of fact,
there is a separate Center for Long Distance Learning with its own
Dean.
