This semester, we sent our first courses out via interactive
television. This fall, we are offering our first entirely web-based
course, which I'm in the midst of putting together.

For several years our instructors have driven a few miles down the
road to Holloman Air Force Base to teach classes there. We get a
little over $500 extra to teach those courses. The amount of
compensation is related to the state's per mile calculations. In
short, the $500 is for car expenses.

With other methods of delivery now being used, it was decided to pay
us the same as what we would get if we drove to HAFB. As far as I
can tell, there's no rhyme or reason behind this other than "they are
all forms of distance learning, and since we already have extra pay
figured for one form we might as well use it for the others".

And since I can't come up with any better way to do it, I'm okay with
it.  =)
