Hi Tipsters!

My question about the shroud has always been - how do they know that the crucified
person was Jesus? After all, crucifixion (in various forms) was a common method of
torture and execution principally by the ancient Romans. Thus, even if the dating
is traced back to the first century, it is still ambiguous as to the person
underneath the cloth.

For those who want the scope on crucifixion in "ancient" times, go to
http://centuryone.com/crucifixion2.html. Joseph Zias, former Curator of
Archaeology/Anthropology for the Israel Antiquities Authority discusses the
historical record, the archaeological evidence, and the physiological data
(including some research where students volunteer to be suspended on crosses).

Warm regards,

linda (who's grateful for continued vegetarianism following the chicken discussion)
