I don't remember any students trying to save me, but some have remarked on
faculty evaluations that I will one day kneel before the Almighty, and will pay
for my atheist views.

Recently, a student contacted me by e-mail several times over a weekend before an
exam.  I carefully answered her questions, with detailed explanations and
additional examples.  At about midnight Sunday, she said, "This is great.  It is
like there is a statistics God that is there any time help is needed.  You simply
ask the questions, and He provides answers."  That kind remark was then followed
by, "If only you were as full of mercy and grace as my one true God."

Geeeez.  What a kick in the pants.
