Glen Farney gave a very good explanation of a number of aspects of
taking up space on a TiVo box. I learned a few things from what he
said, and I would like to comment on only one small portion of it.

I substantially agree, but have a little different perspective.

I have two 80-hour Series 2 units, which I (creatively) refer to as
"Upstairs" and "Downstairs." I use Basic almost exclusively, because
many of the programs I watch are news or talk, and I don't care about
picture quality.

I often record movies at Medium quality, which is fine for my needs.

Basic also allows me to be gone for a couple of weeks without worrying
about running out of room, and that works fine, except for the time
one of my cordless phones went "off-hook" on the second day of a trip,
disabling both TiVos fourteen days later (grrrrrr!).

Thanks for some of the other tips in your message, Glen.
