That's definitely strange, and I couldn't say if the problem is with
the cable or the TiVo. Does it matter which tuner you're on? The
blank screen really sounds like one card isn't paired, so it can't
decode the encrypted channels. But earlier you said you could have
both tuners on encrypted channels - are you sure they were both
encrypted channels? (Note that not all digital channels are
encrypted, so just being on a digital channel isn't enough.)

The TV froze? You mean the TiVo? It sounds like one of the cards
wasn't working and trying to view the recording tripped a bug.

No. That is not normal behavior and nothing normal would cause that.
It sounds like it downloaded an update and had it pending, and it
would've applied it at 2AM. But since you rebooted it is doing it
now. The freeze was probably caused by a bug.

Is this a new unit? There hasn't been an update lately that I know
of, so I'm not sure why you'd be getting one. Unless you have a new
unit that hadn't been upgraded to 9.2a yet.

And if it wasn't running the current software, but rather some old
release, then it could've been an old bug.
