I too use UPSes on my computers, router, Vonage box, and my TiVos. The TVs are also connected to the UPSes, but using the "surge suppression only, no battery backup" outlets. As others have said the main aim is to keep a steady flow of current to the PCs/TiVos rather than to watch TV during an outage.
