I think I'm going to go ahead and implement a reverse SMTP probe
from a Perl script at the MTA level. If it works well, I'll write
a qmail SMTP patch in C to do the same thing.

That will give me an idea of how much spam this system will block,
and if it has any gotchas.

Then, I'll make a list of MTAs that don't accurately send 550 when
the RCPT TO: is bad, and deal with those MTAs (like qmail) with some
sort of fuzzy checksum or pattern matching at the TMDA level.

Stay tuned. I'm almost done with my migration (Tuesday), and I should
have some time to work on this stuff shortly thereafter.
