I just have a comment: it would be nice if there were some sort of "admin" interface that would allow site administrators to enable/disable certain features. For example, I would like to set up an abbreviated version of the software for certain users that will only permit them to manage their whitelists and pending queue, with none of the other features being visible.
That's a good idea. Doing a per-user setup may be tricky and time-consuming. Doing a general admin-setup page may not be too bad, but also time-consuming... I'd have to worry about access to the page, maintaining a list of "who is a superuser", and figuring out how to work it in all execution modes... su-mode would be easy, but single-user or site-wide-no-su may be tricky, depending on how tmda-cgi is installed.
I know that I can do this by creating my own theme, but that's a rather complicated process that requires specialized knowledge.
I think that's the "easiest" way to do a per-user setup right now. The "easy" way to do a site-wide configuration is to edit what you can in the 'defaults.ini' file. Maybe I should allow the Admins to turn off more in this file if they want.
Since I'm now strongly considering the feature-freeze, I think a GUI for administrative control is too far out of scope. However, adding more tweakable settings to the 'defaults.ini' file is not. Would you find this acceptable?
