I had 2 episodes of TM the first 1/5/06 with T10 - T12 with just the legs
affected and the second 1/31/06 with C4 to T2 affected which left me a quad
for 3 days.

With PLEX treatments, on the second episode, I was able to start moving within
30 hours, THANK GOD - I say that now but for the 3 weeks I was in the hospital
the 2nd time I wasn't so grateful.

I have terrible back pain with any type of movement especially the legs. I
also have to concentrate to walk especially moving my R leg which is worse
since the 2nd episode but it was also the worst of the 2 legs with the 1st
episode.

My last MRI was last Nov. (2006) and it showed improvement within the T10 - T12
region but not the C4 - T2 but that it wasn't worse.

I know that I don't have TM now - just the spinal cord injuries caused by TM.

I am on 16 mg of zanaflex a day - 4 mg a.m. & afternoon and 8 mg before bed.
While the zanaflex helps, when I'm having a bad day, I have the most problems.
The worse is my back pain and I experience more problems with the R leg, hands
and L arm. I have also experience full body spasticity whenever I turn from
the waist but just certain times and certain ways??

I say that living with the effects of TM, "everyday is the same but different -
different isn't always good different.

How long have you had TM, which is a wrong statement. You don't have it
anymore you have the residual effects of it.
the reason I ask is because, all the symptoms your stating, I had at onset. I
still have the leg and foot involuntay turning from time to time, and the leg
jumping. That only happens at night or if I shut down the nerve, normally, by
crossing my legs or when sleeping, have one leg over the other.

Well I guess I have both. For no reason, my legs will spasm, jerk in bed,
sitting, and even walking. Then I also have the spasticity with my right leg
and fingers on both hands where they will just cramp up and I can't straighten
them. My right leg at times will draw up to my chest and I can't push it down
or voluntarily straighten it. This can occur for a few seconds on up to a
couple of minutes - REALLY FUN having TM.

A spasm is when the leg jerks. Spasticity is when the muscle doesn't relax, and
there's rigidity involved.

Does this mean continious contracted? I'd call it when spasticity even if it
is spastic rigidity or is that just a spasm?

Yes, a neurologist saw me in the hospital and he said that I didn't have
spasticity because he moved my foot and it was floppy like ever. He said see
you have no spasticity. Natalie

I believe spasticity involves rigidity rather than flopping or jerking
movements. From the National Institute of Neurological Disorders:

'Spasticity is a condition in which certain muscles are continuously
contracted. This contraction causes stiffness or tightness of the muscles and
may interfere with movement, speech, and manner of walking."

I too have had my arms flail away when I have fallen asleep in a chair
watching the awful news or reading the even more depressing paper… I
don’t think it happens when I am flat in bed. Tho I have been known
to give my husband a big kick once in awhile… Of course he
probably deserves it!! J … He is my hero….

Okay you guys, you sound like my husband and he is healthy --- I wonder. He
flaps his arms and jerks his legs in his sleep so badly, I must leave the bed.
If you find an answer to this dilemma please let me know about it. I am tired
of being beaten. gggg

I have something similar. Sometimes, when I am lying down during the day and I
start to nod off, both arms will fly forward and the left leg might jerk
towards my head. Not always, but it always wakes me. It doesn't happen when
I go to bed. If either hand is holding something, that hand will not
participate.
Alton, who thought this unique and now no longer
