The proposal that Divya made regarding Paparao garu, somehow got lost in
the deluge of e-mails that followed.
First off, I commend Divya for her commitment to provide dignity to our
senior citizens.
Next, I strongly support the proposal she has made. The simplicity of
the tasks and ease of implementation is straightforward. Though the initial
investment and effort may seem high, it is not so. With sufficient field
support initially, this will become a project of its own soon enough and
given how enormously responsible these senior citizens are, they'll be able
to run the enterprise in a way that's going to be a model for us :-)
Only concern that I have is whether someone like Paparao garu, would be
willing to do something we suggest him to do? Would ego issues crop up? If
the group feels that this may not be much of a concern, then I totally
support this.
An initiative like this, ties in very nicely with NaChaKi's proposal a
while ago of merging old age homes and orphanages. The children can go to
Teja foundation like schools during the day and the senior citizens can
spend time productively in the setup Divya has proposed. Evenings, nights
and weekends can be spent in the old age cum orphanage with fun and joy.
That sounds like a nice ecosystem to build ... wot say? :D
