I am very much with the opinions of Karthik. When we all know that its a good project to work upon, we shall NOT stop it. But like .C suggested, while working on this, let us also find for better ways for doing it. More close to needy and more close to more effective ways of doing it. Like karthik suggested, financial contribution would not be a problem, the real problem lies at the execution level. And those problems can better be answered while working on the field. Because the one who works in the field level, knows and realises the practical problems. So only s/he can come up with better solutions of doing the same. While writing this mail, something struck me.Can we give some part-time employment to someone who will cook the food on our behalf, thereby saving WHATEVER manpower or energy we have, for distribution? In that way, we will help a person to earn some nominal income and also we will save our time for distribution. Like we did for books, blankets, in the same way, we will load the packed food in car and will go to different places for distributing. May be during the distribution, we will come to know why someone is there on the pavement and what we can do for him/her to earn a regular livelihood. I always say this and now also I am saying the same. Raising funds won't be that difficult, executing the ideas would be difficult because we have less number of people to work in the field. Now the task force is mostly consists of bachelors. Once guys are married, responsibilities would be manifolded;at that time execution would be even tough. So while working now, let us think about some ways by which the work will continue to run, independently of any particular individual. And I have a question to all. Did anyone say that FDP is bad and should be stopped? Or did anyone suggested that there cant be better ways of doing something? Almost always we ask all of us, WHETHER WE SHALL TAKE UP THIS CASE? This question is relevant when the FUND involved is of greater magnitude. If its less expensive? BDP was never there in our mind. Prasad suggested, donated a larger amount and few others followed and we successfully completed that. So it could be a single person. Say I want to donate some money to be spent on a particular cause and I dont have the requisite manpower. I need your (anyone of you) help to execute that. Now because you are a group of people, you can come forward to do that on my behalf and you too can contribute for the same financially. As long as we know that we are not doing anything which may anyway harm anyone, we can take up a project, provided we have sufficient fund and manpower for that. If I know about a case where more money is required and I don't have sufficient funds to support the cause single-handedly, then I will ask for your support. If you can help, help, if you cant, then also its ok. And if I am giving some fund to you to spend on some particular cause, you can spend it for that. If I am giving some fund for general usage, then you can ask me before spending that amount on any particular project whenther I am ok with it. For example, I am giving 10k for educational puposes. I will say that please dont spend this amount on medical cases as I am not interested in medical cases. And at the same time, it is clear that the medical case shall not be deprived from our help just because I don't want to support it. There could be many other members who want it. So why stopping something which is good? Also please remember that I may suggest some alternatives for your medical case which you may not consider at all as I am not favouring medical cases. The message is clear. We are a group of individuals with some common interest..to help others and to be useful to the society in whatever capacity we can. We may not bring some sort of reform in the society, but we can try helping an individual. So for that we need time and money. Both are limited. So we have to spend judiciously both the resources. The task force knows what is the money available, what is the manpower available and what are the choices (choices to spend the money on), so where is the question of stopping something? If everyone else says no to a particular cause and I want to take it up, can anyone stop me from doing that? Does that mean I shall not listen to any suggestions coming from their side? Being members of a group, we are fortunate that there are so many intelligent and experienced minds amongst us. Let us be open for the ideas. Its upto us to accept/adopt.discard those. Ratan P.S. To Prasanthi in particular: By changing your status from OWNER to moderator for the yahoo group, your responsibilities does not change. This statement I have made many times that still we are a group of people, revolving mostly around you. That means you are the central coordinator of any work we undertake. So whatever you are in the mailing group, your role and responsibilities do not change. There are many other members who are coming up to that level, but the group still needs you as you always take the 1st step towards the execution of any task. So dont excuse yourself. (Remember something I said in the last meeting we had at Dr. Sundar's place? Its not with the chair, its with the personality). I would like to repeat that.
