Hello Friends, Let us start the activities.
I do not remember who are all in the NGO Co-ordination team except for Karthik. Karthik, Please start working on this task. Why are we doing this? 1. To identify NGOs/GOs/groups with whom we can work, like-minded 2. To introduce NGOs, who are working on one problem area, to each other, so that they can share their knowledge and experiences. They can form a group of particular problem area and they can start voicing their opinion (campaign) more loudly and clearly. What we can do? The team mails to concerned persons in the group and initiate a dialogue. 1. Tell them that we are trying to create a directory of groups working for society 2. Eventually we will form a platform where we will provide scope for showcasing the activities, to serve the purpose to the core (May be we can come up with a quarterly newsletter in Print too - not sure) How best we can do? 1. Let us start searching in each problem area so that we do not end up working on the same group. Say for example, one person will search for organizations, groups who deal with differently abled persons (physically challenged) and mentally retarded. One will search for orphanages, one for old age homes, one for child labour etc., Let us create an Excel sheet with these fields: S.No. - Name of the organization - Registered or Unregistered or Government - Contact Person and his details-- Contact Details of the Company -- Date of Approach - Volunteer (who communicated with this organization) -- Status --- Remarks I am not sure how many of us in Hyderabad can participate in this work. If anyone are interested, please reply to this mail saying about the problem area which one wants to explore. For now, let us restrict ourselves to organizations working in and around Hyderabad. P.S.: I have been talking with like-minded groups here. I will come up with the details soon. There has been good developments here and as the days pass by we can see a very good progress in our efforts. Please reply, especially those in this team. Thank you. with regards, Prasanthi.
