OCMS TEAM NELLORE. Update on the meet on 4 th october 2008.

Hi all TMAD Members,
Yesterday all OCMS project trainees here in Nellore (all are one
branch ECM,FINAL YR ENG STUDENTS IN NARAYANA ENGINEERING COLLEGE) has
been grouped together in one discussion about the project.
I have a friend who works as faculty in one of the coaching center
(Raju coaching center) that gives coaching to groups,DSCS,Banking
exams etc.
He helped me in providing one class room for free yesterday and also
we are going to conduct more regular interactive sessions like the
one we did yesterday in the same place in next meets.
They allowed us to accomdate the class room for free at weekends for
few hours without any restrictions.
The total attendees of the interactive discussion are 14 in number
(including me,ofcourse Iam not a trainee, a facilitator from our
group).
Initially we planned before three days how to conduct the discussion
and have some initial plan according to it.
Last weekend I put final remainder to join the group specific for it.
Out of the 22 members who gave names on the day our team members
visited (Prasanthi and Harinath on August 17TH)
now 17 members have been joined and wished to continue till the
project completion phase. Some other members also approaching lately
and we are thiking what to do?
Out of them 13 members have been come for the meet. As we decided in
short time with the availability of regular class room facility, the
other three has been unable to come for the discussion but informed
us that they will come for next sessions regularly.
Activities done in interactive discussion

1) I have explained them about the OCMS significance and on outline
of web applications in day to day world(ofcourse I have done at user
end not on tech end as Iam a lay man about tech in science).
2) Vamsidhar Reddy, final ecm explained about SDLC(software
development life cycle), various phases in it and the significance of
each model in related to the requirement.
He explained it with power point presentation. Even as short time
available to prepare for the topic, but done in a nice manner.
3) Sandeep. final ecm branch, then discussed about web technologies
in general and also applying SDLC to web 2.0.
Infact he done in a beautiful manner the presentation as he gave
us an insight about how web technologies developed over time and also
where they are leading.
He seems to be a keen observer of technology updates, this is
what my opinion after his presentation.
He explained how web 1.0 started and how web 2.0 developed and
how web 3.0 now developing in simple steps which made all students to
get an over view about the technology evolution of web technologies.
He also gave an over view about different technologies like html,
ajax, php, mysql.
He also speak in general forms of blogs,forums,wikipedia etc like
different forms of content management systems and their application
at web end.
4) Finally we did celebrated birthday of one of OCMS
trainee,Vaishnavi, yesterday with a cake and we left for the day.

Over all we felt happy and trainees stressed the need for more like
these sessions at a regular basis.
My views are as follows after the discussion with them.
They agreed for regular discussions and team meetings.
We have put a norm to speak in english only in the team meeting.
Those who violated it will be given chacolates (blue rapered for
small and less mistakes,green medium, red for severe--I believe and
apply Gandhism- to make them not to suppress their thoughts and come
out of it. To get rid of fear complexion on expression)
At the same time I have proposed for a concept for every four
speakers, one best presentation will be awarded with a special prize
like personality development books, some useful educative material
etc. It means for two sessions, one speaker will be awarded that.
As number is fifteen plus, we wished to divide it on small team
basis, like four to five per one team, may be we will do it when
connected with the mentor Harinath sir,on the basis of technology or
convenient basis or a blend of both etc.
I have also advised them to put the experiences on their individual
blogs and also on team blogs(of what we divide now) so that whatever
they do will be betterly represented over the time which will serve
many purposes. They can better represent once they write what they do
especially in interviews and also for the followers to come because
in upgradation of beta version, the followers will understand the
flow.
And one more thing I wished to do besides tech issues, leadership
mentoring also simultaneously. I have also known few speakers and
myself will take care of this issue.
The other issue we discussed is availability of mentors who could
train them in these technologies ( PHP,My sql, Html, Java
script,AJAX) here in Nellore. Till december these people will need to
learn those technologies and after it as they got time for project,
will be sit on the project exclusively. So till time if any mentor
who is good at these technologies or if u know any of them who could
volunteer, please give me or Harinath sir a reference so that we can
schedule their visit to here to Nellore on their convenient schedule.
Because that can give beforehand information about these at industry
setting.
Ofcourse Harinath sir is in clear idea with the project documentation
and specifications, he will give the UI and prototype and all
technical requirements about the entire project.
These mentors who can volunteers are expected to be in conjuction
with the modules what sir aligns with the project and also the basic
information they need to give these people an idea about them.
So these are the updates about the yesterday meet. And some more
points today we discussed with the core members to refine the work to
the highest standard and still we are in discussion with them and I
will update you about them soon in the next week.
