I have had exactly the same problem with
tomcat 3.2.1 on Solaris / Apache / mod_jk and
jdk 1.3
I tried deleting the work dir, clearing cache etc etc etc....
No luck.
When I restarted tomcat + apache, the problem
disappeared.
I know that someone else also faced this problem.
This is quite a "freaky" thing, because I have not been able
to reproduce it.
