Anyone with RH7 or greater who needs to reinstall lilo. The normal
procedure with lilo is to run the binary from the target system so as not
to have version mismatches with boot.b or have to change lilo.conf to
point to boot.b from the rescue diskette. It isn't /proc that matters, it
is a utsname syscall, I hardly think there is a general need to make the
version of the kernel writable after all.
Maybe I should put in a hack that modifies the glibc in place to remove
this behaviour? Just kidding...
