Scott, you seem to have forgotten the input of previous posts.

It is with a skos model imported, after having created a new skos
Concept instance,
when I edit preferred label I have only the choice to create a New
Thing instance as object of skos:preferredLabel
while I would expect to be able to just enter an empty row for a
string into preferred label.

I can enter a preferred Label as string after having run "inferences".

Which I do find strange,

since skos:prefLabel is defined as a owl:AnnotationProperty.

Then from the OWL spec:

"The object of an annotation property must be either a data literal, a
URI reference, or an individual."

So I would expect that the Ensemble user interface should offer me the
possibility to enter a "data literal" value for skos:prefLabel
directly without having to run inferences.

In Composer I have both possibilities, not in Ensemble.
