I will explain what I understood. UML Topcased editor will still exist in future release but with a new look and feel and maybe a new format. UML from Java will still exist but will not generate a new topcased UML model and generated model will have to be imported in papyrus. But why in papyrus and not in new topacased UML editor ? New topcased editor and papyrus editor use the same "background plugins". Is it what you explained ? Noite : As I understood since topcased uses papyrus, papyrus pulgins have to be installed for topcased, then papyrus editor is available even if topcased has uml editor too. >From my user point of view two UML editors in one tool that's too much, and >that's confusing, one editor should be removed. [FAUDOU Raphael] You should not consider Papyrus as a replacement of TOPCASED. Papyrus is a technology for editors while TOPCASED is a complete modeling platform including modeling editors like Papyrus editors. Java reverse engineering is not in the scope of Papyrus and so it is normal that you do not find this component with Papyrus project. But Java reverse engineering still works in TOPCASED event it is not completely integrated with new TOPCASED Papyrus-based editors. In fact, It creates an Eclipse UML model that can be imported in any Papyrus model. Perhaps it was not clear but Papyrus editors rely on same Eclipse UML plugin that former TOPCASED UML editor. The only difference is about the graphical format (diagrams). So if you use java reverse engineering, TOPCASED will create a UML model and potentially some class diagrams with former TOPCASED graphical format (.di). You will not be able to read those diagrams in papyrus but you will be able to import UML data (classes, attributes.) into a Papyrus model . Then it will be quite simple to create class diagrams by drag and drop.
