I posted here earlier that a potential problem is installing Topcased in a directory too far down in your hierarchy so that some file names are too long and the files are not extracted. In some unzippers this fails silently. Then when you run Topcased it will start but it will fail often. We have had to install it in a top level directory.
I am using Topcased with 30 undergraduate CS majors. I had two people who did not follow my advice about installing to a top level directory and they had several problems until they reinstalled. No one else has had a crash using UML or SysML. The code is stable when installed correctly. I haven't even really started with a project and I get Exceptions and closed windows/editors. See the attached log file. I changend into the "UML&SysML" Perspective. I created three projects, each as TOPCASED project. Then I created in each a model from Papyrus->"Papyrus Model". First I selected "SysML", in the second I tried a "Profile" model, and the third a "UML" model. Haven't much had the chance to edit anything. In the profile, I just added a package plus some "Primitive Datatypes". In the SysML I just let the wizard create a BDD. In the UML model, I just let the wizard create a Composite Structure Diagram. That's all I did.
