Through experimentation on Vista, here is what I found.  Revert back
to the MS-Windows default theme that shipped with <= 0.6.

cd {THG}\share\themes\MS-Windows\gtk-2.0
edit gtkrc
comment out 3 of the last 5 lines such that they look like this:

#  engine "wimp"
#  {
#  }
}
class "*" style "msw-default"

Save to disk, then open up changelog dialog.  See non-broken drop down windows.
Could others verify this?  If this is sufficient, I will make this the
default setup for 0.7

PS: I commented out GtkTreeView::allow-rules = 0 as well, just because
it looks nicer.
