Hey guys, I plan to purchase a Touch to avoid going down the PC streamer route. I will be connecting it to an external hard drive directly via USB. But I have a few questions about this:
1) I have previously read that a directly connected USB drive with FLAC files does not have the same sound quality as using SBS on a PC streaming the same file in WAV format? Apparently, this was audible with $5 headphones. This was a while ago, so could somebody confirm if this is still the case. Does this effect only over analog outputs, or digital outputs as well? 2) Does the Touch enable gapless playback? If so, do I just get EAC to rip CDs as normal and the gaps will be in the flac files, or do I need to create cue sheets? In addition, if I rip an album to a directory, will the Touch automatically play through the whole album? 3) Does the Touch take a long time to scan files on the USB drive? Often, I might buy a CD, rip it to the USB drive and then reconnect the drive to the Touch. Will this cause long browsing delays?
