When you "wake" Touch from standby and it does not see your HDD you can go to Settings > Advanced > SqueezeBox Server to start the inbuilt server (if needed).
Why (if) Touch is not running it's inbuilt server when you wake it I cannot say. HDD power down (so Touch thinks there is no HDD)? If manually restarting the server seems to resolve this you can move the Server Status menu item to your home menu.
