So the real issue is to be able to spin down the disk. Thats actually a different issue. There are a couple possible ways to do that from a linux device (the Touch runs linux), I will try and remember to try those out this weekend. If I can find one that works I'll throw together a quick and dirty applet you can try. It won't work from the power button, you will have to click either the spin-up or spin-down button in its own page. The advantage of this is that it doesn't actually disconnect the drive, its still connected to the USB bus so the server is still up and running, but the drive itself is not spinning. The big advantage is that it will wake up in a few seconds and be ready to play, rather than having to start up the server and do a rescan of the disk. This may not work, there are reports that some USB disks do not respond to the spin-down command.
