UPNP and DLNA are supported through the SqueezeboxServer, not the player. If you put SBS on the same computer (or NAS) the music drives are on then that server can be a UPNP client. But if SBS is already on the computer with the music files you don't need to do that since SBS can get at the files directly. The only reason you would want to use the UPNP client capability is if you already had a control system setup for that which you want to continue to use. Since you mention using iPeng it sounds like you are willing to use a Squeeze specific control method (rather than a UPNP controller).
So just put SBS on the box the drive is plugged into and you can use either use SBS direct from the files (using iPeng or any other SB control method), or use the UPNP server to stream to SBS which will stream to the Touch. The Touch has a stripped down version of the SBS but it has a number of things turned off in order for it to run on the Touch, one of those things is UPNP support. You CAN plug a drive into the Touch and use the builtin server, but there are limitations (no webUI, no pluggins, no UPNP). In addition some people are having some problems with using the builtin server. If you already have a computer the music drive is connected to you will almost always have a better experience putting SBS on that computer rather than putting the drive directly on the Touch.
