Actually, it seems ok that it works that way. In my case, even though ALL the options are checked, unless I manually tap the screen to change things it ALWAYS stays on the now playing screen showing album art, title, artist. So this is not a problem. Just to follow up, have you now got all the issues ironed out of your setup OTHER THAN this now playing issue? And to be clear, when you say the info fails to appear, what appears instead? A blank screen? Something else? What have you got your SCREENSAVER set to? Go to settings > Screen > Screensavers and make sure you have the screensaver for WHEN PLAYING set to "now playing". Otherwise, after a short period of time it will revert to whatever you've set as the screensaver (which could be "blank"). I suspect this may be your problem. Double check this.
