Okay, I thought you had a VortexBox appliance, so Wake-On-LAN might not
be possible depending on either the PC itself or the network card
installed if it's not on the motherboard.

If it's an integrated network adaptor then there's usually a BIOS
setting to enable or disable Wake-On-LAN which you'd find by going into
the BIOS settings screen at boot-up.

How you configure VortexBox to shut down when you're not listening to
anything I don't know, but I know other people here use VortexBox set
up this way so it's definitely achievable and I'm sure people could
help you through getting it set up if this is the way you want to go.

The other option would be to use the in-built SBS server on the Touch
with an external hard disk, but you'd probably run into its limitations
pretty quickly using it to serve up music to other clients.
