I'd say search feature is very interesting and very useful but not
mandatory.
People having several thousands of CD's and CD players can use their
library and know where are their CDs.
I had a few hundreds and had no problem.

In my opinion, people starting to rip CDs care too much about tags, and
not enough about having sensible folders structure with one folder per
CD and meaningful file naming scheme.

When you rip CDs, you shouldn't have less than with CDs.
The search option is a plus.
The equivalent of choosing a CD in a physical library is to browse
folders, and the equivalent to choose a track on a CD is to select a
file in a folder.
I guess it is enough for most people.

The search option is only a (very useful) plus, but only a plus.
