Ok tried an old 1GB card i had around . it worked .
it detected the card , Asked me if I wanted to start squeezeboxserver , yes ofcourse ,this starts the tiny version of the server on the Touch itself. did the spiny while scanning it (let it finish with that ) Went to "My Music" > switch library . This was because my normal server was running , If wanted to select to one running on the Touch itself that I just started. Selected the SD card as music library .
