I just ordered my SBT and want to set up a way to not only use my itunes library, but also hi-res audio files. My itunes files are ripped with Apple Lossless and my FLAC files are mostly downoads of high sample rate Vinyl transfers. I am assuming that connection to a cat5 cable would provide the most reliable connection to the SBT. I should have no probelem with this as both my systems have an ethernet connection in close proximity.
One of my systems uses a Peachtree iDac. With the other system I have the ability to connect USB/COAX/Toslink to my DEQX HDP-4 processor or to connect Balanced/Toslink to my EMM Labs XDS1. I'm thinking the DAC in the XDS1 would be better but from what I've read USB into the DEQX may be a better choice. Any suggestions? Also, I have no experience setting up a music server on my PC. Currently the PC uses a 2TB Firewire drive. Would I be better off hosting my non-iTunes files on an ethernet drive? What is the best software to use for managing everything?
