Good idea ,you probably have read the whole of this tread or entice the
others to post on your new tread and also disclose thier settings and
which kernel if such alterations was necessary .

However this mostly ( only imo ) matters for DAC's with who only has USB
inputs .
There are other factors that matters if a DAC is good DAC or not, which
kind of input it has is just one detail to consider in the whole picture
.consider that a good spdiff implementation is transparent to the
listeners and also consider that the USB or any other inputs is not
automatically the best choice DAC design skills vary, and actually on
many designs the USB is a second rate computer input not the
asynchronous implementation you want here.

This also makes me wonder about brands like ayre that implements a
proprietary async protocol with proprietary drivers ?
And exclude normal inputs from some of thier DAC models ?? Wtf .
Marketing smoke and mirrors, they also declare the traditional inputs as
barely usable bla bla ?
I see a use case for small USB only DAC ,for example to a laptop and you
use it as second system or a home studio .
But for a main DAC into a hifi system to offer only one input you gotta
be kidding me !?
Do they want us to buy even more boxes :)

I don't subscribe to the beliefs that good audio equipment must be void
of any creature comforts or user friendly functionality to be "pure" and
considerable for inclusion in an audiophile system .

So in this list of DAC we must also at least try to establish if the USB
implementation is worthwhile, this is very hard to do but we can try .

My piont is that just because the Touch can use an USB output this is
not a major game changer that has to skew the whole process of DAC
selection it simply makes the list of possible DAC's bigger as it
includes some of the USB only designs .
This is putting the cart in front of the horse .

This is a similar hang up to some people's desire to use only balanced
equipment and in the process exclude perfectly good unbalanced solutions
( now there is a can of worms on how balanced is implemented in some
designs ).
