Hi,
The problem with the very good and inexpensive Schiit Modi Dac was
exposed previously by Dustinsterk: DAC is recognized, but during boot it
crash the squeezebox touch...

It seems there's problem with alsa and pulsaudio (less) but some people
working on it and submit several patch:
