No problem resultat should be exactly the same either way for flac . There are a LOT of claims that serverside flac recording should be better , problem is that these are just anecdotes any real testing like measurements ( player do output the exact same thing either way ) or a proper blind test don't show these . All kinds of biases go I to sigthed listenings . Problem for the lossles FLAC decoder there is really no mechanism for causing this at all . For a lossy decoder that can be different MP3 or AAC do actually use more CPU than a lossles algorithm and often need floating piont math to work the best , this is not present on the Touch so for example the MP3 decoding is slightly less good than on proper computer , there are some old bug reports on it and it can be tested . But the effect is not apearently on all MP3 tracks , but sometimes it can be audible so it's not a constant degradation it's apparent on some material . For the AAC a decoder no one shoved any similar problem yet , but it could be a similar situation . It's not that many that tries to get very best from lossy decoders most usually switch to lossles . But the Flac decoder is known to be functioning properly either way on the server or the player . -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
