.. Eh no , not in practice . however all this is a popular believe
system in a subset of squeezebox users but no one have offered any
substantial evidence for it ever . Same nutters even suggest the server
OS as a source of problems....

This is simply " not how things work " digital audio don't work like
this .

In practice all reasonably well designed digital sources conected to
reasonably well designs DAC will give the same result .the DAC will be
happy if the signal quality is good enough and recklock and lock on the
signal and give the same audio it gives with any source .

Sorry if I offend you . But eventually you will get "advice" for your
"problem" by the very people that spread all this misinformation to
begin with and a forum is read by at least 10 times more people than
participate I just want to offer my opinion on what's the real problem
is.

That's the end of my effort to help ( if even possible ) . If this had
been 5-6 years ago I believed all off it and probably also" heard" the
same differences . It is a real problem I know . But it's no an audio
or engineering problem .

There is however a slight possibility that by tweaking around you
actually done something that truly offset the system for real .

So start again with a clean slate a fresh LMS install ( remove all prefs
and dB files etc ) .
And a factory reset squeezbox Touch and try again . No tweaks no apps .

You migth re introduce EDO if you need the USB support , the async USB
functionality is a technical improvement if your Dac have it use it . It
migth not be an directly audible difference but it is there on many
DAC's .
Ok you need EDO a for DoP if you use that . However the DSD plugin works
with a stock Touch too , but no DoP .

I suggest that you don't install TT3 or what's it called , it offers no
actuall functional enhancements.

The file types settings in LMS are mostly there for compatibility
reasons with different servers and players , there is always a corner
case where the default settings don't work. However for a typical user
on x86 CPU machine and with any squeezebox >=SB2 there is often no
reason to actually change any setting here ,these are not "audio quality
settings ".
