Were the scope images with or without load? It is very easy to
accomplish a "cleaner" supply with a simple LC filter, but the inductor
will increase the internal impedance of the PS, making it worse when
faced with a peaky digital load.

I definitely agree with the first part, but would like to see evidence
for the second part of the sentence.
