Not that it's a bad thing, stifled, there's plenty of snake oil about this, and the TT crap was absurd, but don't agree it should be ignored
However, *spdif can flat out be improved*-- there's one thing you can do on the touch... that you can hear (but that's only so good), and ultimately you don't want to use the touch-- (I use the raspi digi now -- didn't expect it to sound better at all, but I crapped my pants when it did ) It's very obviously audible, I'm gonna try to capture it sometime with a good mic It goes from a wall of sound that's tough to listen to at night (but still sound awesome), to a nicer sound that you can play at night and can play louder, my theory is if you have blips in the digital, it adds to the existing signal highs/mids/lows, thats why everything improves all at once This is semi relevant, I'll try to do some more videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5C5oSs5ELk --> Now in that video, (the BNC, not very sure it changed anything, but had to try, the linear power supply is what made this setup trump the touch, it's exciting actually) Just look at the spdif spec, how could it not go wrong! Also I though this guy did some nice simplified graphics on spdif: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grzoqEb2KMk Also, my Dac does not "reclock" -- maybe it's more sensitive... my theory is if it's reclocked (without the original clock) isn't it just baking the errors in? (spdif manchester encoding etc) But I was gonna try to steer this poor guy in the right direction, but only if I heard from him.
