I have a setup similar to a NAS a HP microserver running a Linux server
OS ( no gui or desktop ) administration remetoly via web browser and
comand Shell , just like a NAS .

If i did this today an intel NUC would be a thing to consider .

The thing is to not cheap out on CPU and memory if you want a smooth
experience with plugins and transcoding applikations and general
performance .

And the thing don't need to run 24/7 there is WOL ( wake on LAN ) so
that you can nudge it out of sleep or boot it remotely .
