And why not just consider buying a RaspberryPi, install
www.max2play.com, plug a hard drive and use it for server/files only.
Currently I am using an Intel NUC, it does work great, but I am more and
more considering moving to max2play. I believe it's even more cost
effective (power use).
I've been testing it with a pi3, the response is great, you get all
features,  and even more as you can use airplay.
NAS was the way forward 5 year ago for Squeezebox. Now, there are so
many other cheaper possibilities.
