In many ways your PC is more versatile than a NAS, so I strongly support
the idea of starting using your regular PC for LMS. It's powerfull and
has an OS that You're familiar with. And it's cheap - You already have
it ;-)

If you're think it uses to much power, consider hooking it up to
Ethernet and enable WOL (Wake on lan). All Squeezeboxes support sending
WOL-signal (magic packet) to SBserver in case it's unavailable, a few
seconds later LMS is active and you can stream. 

I've been using this setup for years and forgot all about buying a NAS.
In the mean time all sorts of streaming services and cloud solution have
madde NAS'es even more obsolete if you ask me.
