Simplified setup:

Raspberry pi next to your router wired ethernet to router. (don't use
wireless)
Install Max2Play or piCorePlayer on the Pi.
Open a web browser on your phone/tablet/PC/whatever.
Install LMS 7.9.
Attach a USB stick or HDD containing your music files, LMS scans this
drive. (you can use a NAS too if you wish, but a bit more
cost/complexity)
On your SBT go to My Music > Switch Library > select the raspberry pi.

Thats it, a raspberry pi *IS* a computer, it replaces your PC, you don't
need your PC to be switched on except to control the LMS server
players/settings on your Pi, but you can also use your phone/tablet
whatever to do that

Pic below shows LMS server on my Nexus 7, exactly the same as on your
PC, but smaller.
