I haven't ever changed code inside a Squeezebox Touch but I suspect that one of the experts could find that bit and change it and then it would be a few simple commands from command line to do the same on yours ... my assumption being that the code that initialises that variable is in a piece of LUA (perhaps) code that is easy to change and no compilation is necessary.
