So a new problem appeared last night when I was quietly listening to WSFM at a low-level volume. After about half-an-hour, the Touch went ballistic, producing a very harsh and high-level mix of a very loud buzzing sound with what almost sounded like carrier noise, very, very loud, scaring the hell out of me at the time. The only way I could stop this was by physically unplugging the AC power supply. The Touch would not respond to any of the remote control commands such as reducing the volume or even trying to switch the unit off.
When I plugged the power back in after a few seconds, all was good and I could select stations again - for about 10-15 minutes then a repeat performance of this incredibly loud sound, much akin to a heavy thunderstorm with hail on a bare corrugated iron roof. This happened five times and then I gave up and went to bed. I have not tried it today because we had an electrical storm this afternoon and I did not want to risk frying my VDSL modem or anything else. What I did do was to check the Walmart type power supply and it seems fine, DC voltage is 4.94v and there is no sign of any AC ripple on the DC output. Has anybody ever experienced this? This throws quite a damper on the brand-new (albeit some 8 years old) SB Touch unit. -Eric ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ews2k's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69845 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111647 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
