We actually used to host the mailing list at t.e.o (p.e.c at the time IIRC). We moved to Google because the number of people on the lists was simply too much for the server to handle. Just one of those annoying realities of FOSS project management. I do agree that a mailing list archive plugin (with search hooks) would be very nice to have, and we could use it on t.e.o to archive these lists. Go do it! :)
