Money is not an issue. Even the devs would be happy to contribute enough
for more powerful servers. Time spent managing said systems (and yes,
large scale systems like this require maintenance) is often hard to come
by. There are two distinct problems here, running the mailing list and
having a nice archive available. The two need not be solved in the same
place. I don't know of any reason to not continue hosting the list with
Google, if someone has one please share it. As for having a searchable
archive with the rest of the Trac documentation, I don't think anyone
would object to that. Unfortunately I know of no such plugin, so someone
would need to write it first.
